When a Mod Won't Load or Crashes the Game

A mod that won't load, or crashes the game outright, is almost always one of a handful of causes — here's the order worth checking them in. Game version mismatch. Mods are built against a specific Farming Simulator 25 version, and GIANTS updates the game regularly. If a mod hasn't been updated to match a recent patch, it can fail silently or crash on load. Check the mod's own page for a note about which version it supports before assuming it's broken. A missing dependency. Some mods — especially ones adding attachments, configurations, or add-ons for a base vehicle — need another mod installed first. If the description mentions "requires X" and X isn't in your mods folder, the game usually won't tell you clearly why it's failing. Read the full description, not just the title. A corrupted or incomplete download. If the .zip didn't finish downloading properly, the game will often refuse to load it or crash trying. Re-downloading the file fixes this more often than people expect — it's worth trying before anything else if a specific mod is misbehaving and nothing else has changed. Two mods conflicting. Some mods edit the same base-game systems (physics, fill types, certain vehicle categories) and don't play well together. If the game was fine before you added a specific mod and breaks immediately after, that mod — or its interaction with something already installed — is the first suspect. Removing mods one at a time until the crash stops is tedious but reliable. A mod built for the wrong game entirely. It happens more than you'd think: an FS22 mod downloaded by mistake will not work correctly in FS25, even though the interface looks similar.
